WeTalkToday.com founder and this blog’s regular contributor Sandra Tedford (@WeTalkToday) published an article I wrote, “Why Entrepreneurs and Job Seekers should be Marketers.” Please read the article as it relates to this conversation.
Both are poor marketers especially with all of the tools we have today, and the access to engaging more people than ever. Our communication tools are more sophisticated than we are as users. If you have a social profile, you are in ways, marketing. There’s no shame in seeing it this way. You are marketing yourself.
When you do this, your not handing out pamphlets, or asking for donations. Yet, job seekers and entrepreneurs alike scoff at saying in words what they contribute and offer help and solutions to those who require it.
So sell yourself.
In the article I said,
They hate to be tested through competition. When they lose out on contracts, exposure, or key networking relationships, it’s because of the lack of marketing.
You can’t afford to be shy.
You can’t afford to be passive.
So sell yourself.
Let me know what holds you back from exhaling in the morning.
Brand Tip: Knowem.com
Let just say you have signed up for so many social networks or too few, and you have forgotten who, what, and where they are. Knowem.com will help unearth the profiles you rarely think about.
You may have used your real name or moniker for these sites, so you will need to discern by trial and error testing the name you registered. It is not 100% accurate, but you can control your personal brand by controlling your profiles.
